2011 – Declared joint winner of the title ‘Volunteer Involving NGO of the Year’ by Apeejay India Volunteer Awards 2011.

2004 - Operation Smile India received the esteemed Diwaliben Mohanlal Mehta Award. Mahendra Mehta accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Bill Magee, Co-founder and CEO of Operation Smile.

The Diwaliben Mohanlal Mehta Awards are given for vision as well as work which contribute to improving the lives of others and uplifts humanity.

The Diwaliben Mohanlal Mehta Charitable Trust began in 1993 with a view to promoting excellence. The trust gives out ten awards per year, each comprising a citation, medallion and cash gift of Rs.300,000. A panel of jury headed by former Chief Justice of India makes the selection of the awardees.

The awards are presented every year on the 8th of January. Their field of welfare embraces a wide range of activities, be it in the field of educational aid, medical aid, or relief work in the times of natural calamities.
